MONTREAL -- It was either a quick study and one learned well by the Montreal Impact or the two-time Trinidad & Tobago Super League champion didn't live up to its billing.
Whatever the case, the Impact played textbook soccer in an impressive 2-0 win over Joe Public in the opening game of the group stage in the CONCACAF Champions League before 7,631 at Saputo Stadium on Wednesday night.
Playing in wet conditions because of periods of rain that was heavy at times and made the field slick, the Impact took control took of a match against an opponent it had not seen before this week and didn't look back with a dominating display of offence, creativity and defence which wasn't reflected in the final score.
