35th Carifête Starts Saturday At Noon
From The Montreal Gazette:
MONTREAL - The 35th annual Carifête – a whirl of colourful costumes and steel bands – will start at noon Saturday on René Lévesque Blvd. at Guy St. and parade east to Sanguinet St.
A split within the organizing committee will not prevent the parade from attracting a record turnout, predicted Henry Antoine, head of the newly formed Montreal Carnival Development Foundation.
Dancers bedecked in feathers and towering costumes will strut their stuff along with the usual colourful floats.
