Quebec Independence Because Of Green House Gases?

Quebec Sovereigntists Hope Road To Independence Passes Through Copenhagen -- Winnipeg Free Press/Canadian Press

MONTREAL - Quebec sovereigntists have wasted no time pouncing on the climate-change issue as the latest argument to break up Canada, making their case at the very outset of a major UN summit.

The Parti Quebecois issued the sovereigntist call to arms on the hot-button issue Monday as Prime Minister Stephen Harper prepared to attend the environmental conference at Copenhagen.

My Comment: Quebec has been unseasonably cold in the past few years .... the idea of global warming affecting Quebecers is laughed about, and not taken seriously.

For Quebec, It's Third Time Lucky, Parizeau Says -- Globe And Mail

Globalization and the trend toward greater centralization of powers in Ottawa will ultimately lead to another referendum on sovereignty, says former Parti Québécois premier Jacques Parizeau.

In a book released yesterday entitled La souveraineté du Québec Hier, aujourd'hui et demain (Quebec Sovereignty Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow), Mr. Parizeau encourages sovereigntists to talk up their cause. From The Montreal Gazette:

MONTREAL — Former Parti Quebecois Leader Jacques Parizeau argues in a new book that it’s not because the sovereignty movement failed twice to pull Quebec out of Canada that the dream is dead and can’t or won’t one day happen.

Even if the sovereignty option appears to be languishing, Parizeau says the roots of the idea are well entrenched in the minds of Quebecers and the option has steadily gained credibility over the course of the 40 years he has been fighting for it.

My Comment: French Quebec demographics indicate that the French population in Quebec will be a minority within 50 years. Face it .... they are not having children. Immigrants may come and learn the French language, but the priority will always be English for them.

Parizeau's push for separation is just a dream .... and it will stick that way when he dies.
