Montreal Steps Up Bixi Expansion

MONTREAL - The Bixi bikes are such a success, the city is about to expand its bicycle-rental program.

Next month, the city will add 2,000 bikes to 100 new stations, extending the service to four more boroughs: Mercier/ Hochelaga Maisonneuve, Côte des Neiges/Notre Dame de Grâce, Villeray/St. Michel/ Park Extension and Southwest.

Outremont and Rosemont/ Petite Patrie will get additional stations.

This will mean that 5,000 bikes will be available for rentals at 400 stations.
