There was one bit of good news for the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday: goaltender Jaroslav Halak, felled by a virus in recent days, is feeling better and will rejoin the team in Atlanta on Thursday.
But mere hours after general manager Bob Gainey gave his lineup a vote of confidence by not making a deal at the NHL's trade deadline, the Canadiens found themselves on the short end of a 5-1 count against the Buffalo Sabres.
