QUEBEC - The city and the province are reviewing plans to redevelop Notre-Dame Street, in the Montreal’s east end, because the $750-million cost of the ambitious project has doubled, Transport Minister Julie Boulet said yesterday.
“We are not going to start a project that has doubled in costs in so little time,” Boulet told reporters on her way to a meeting of the Quebec cabinet.
And Boulet added that in future, the province would track all contingencies when it budgets the cost of highway projects.
“From now on, for big projects, we are going to take account of those costs.”
