Expect to make 200 arrests in Montreal region.
MONTREAL - Garden centres that specialize in hydroponics appear to be a central part of a vast police operation, led by the Sûreté du Québec, that has targeted marijuana producers in Montreal and the surrounding area.
The Quebec City police launched a similar operation that also targeted marijuana growers based in and around the provincial capital.
According to the SQ, more than 200 people are sought on warrants in Operation Borax. More than 800 police officers from the provincial police force, RCMP and various municipal police forces are taking part in arrests and the execution of about 40 search warrants in Montreal, Laval and Longueuil.
