Quebec Federation of Labour rejects calls for public inquiry after police raids raise spectre of corruption, ties to organized crime.
QUEBEC — The Quebec Federation of Labour is urging the provincial government to reject calls for another full public inquiry into the province's construction industry after a series of police raids this week raised the spectre of potential ties to organized crime.
"Only a few companies are suspected of money laundering, and the union is not implicated," QFL president Michel Arsenault said in an interview yesterday. "Let the police conduct their investigation. But do I need to remind you that labour relations in the construction industry have never been this good?"
