If a housing development on the southern flank of Mount Royal gets the go-ahead, it will be much harder to protect other institutionally owned green spaces on the mountain, environment and conservation groups said Monday.
Public hearings began Monday night on a $300-million project to build 325 condominium units, townhouses and single-family homes on the former Marianopolis College campus off Côte des Neiges Rd. The 6.5-hectare site, which was sold by the Sulpician priests last fall, is in the Mount Royal historic and natural district.
