Thousands of motorcyclists were expected to ride into downtown Montreal Sunday from St. Hubert airport on the South Shore to protest rising insurance premiums.
The Quebec motorcyclists Day of Rights and Freedoms, better known as the Journée du loup XIV, started at Melrose Studio located near the small airport about 10 a.m.
As many as 15,000 motorcyclists were present, Geneviève Pesant, an event spokesperson, said.
She said most of those motorcyclists were expected to drive into the city starting about 1:30 p.m.
