Twelve Montrealers - including adolescents and primary-school children - have contracted H1N1 influenza, raising the total number of cases so far in Quebec to 38, public-health authorities said yesterday. All the infected individuals are recovering at home with mild cases of the so-called swine flu, said Alain Poirier, director of Quebec's Public Health Department.
"We're still in a scenario of a virus that has a weak virulence, which is something in which we take great relief," Poirier said. None of the new cases are concentrated in any one school, he added.
