An agreement in principle has been reached at Montreal newspaper La Presse, warding off a holiday season closure.
Managers at the daily newspaper said they struck a deal with their union counterparts at about 3:30 a.m. Friday morning.
The deal covers three of the newspaper's unions and the majority of employees, including editorial and newsroom staff.

My Comment: The unions had little if any choice. Their industry is dying, and the profits that use to be there are no longer there.
