QUEBEC - Montreal Mayor Gérald Tremblay said Thursday on his way to a municipal summit of nine mayors with Municipal Affairs Minister Laurent Lessard that the city is ready to comply with Lessard’s proposals to tighten up the process for awarding municipal contracts.
“I have had discussions with the minister, Laurent Lessard, on numerous occasions and I offered him our full collaboration,” Tremblay told reporters.

My Comment: The Mayor does not have a choice. If he refused, the Quebec Government would only use their authority to make sure that their guidelines and rules be applied ... undercutting the Mayor in the process.
