Cost of monthly bus-and-métro pass climbs to $70; Projet Montréal calls for fare freeze.
MONTREAL – A looming 2.2-per-cent hike in the cost of a monthly bus-and-métro pass is evidence Montreal Mayor Gérald Tremblay is paying lip service to public transit, opposition parties say.
The Société de transport de Montréal announced 2010 fare hikes Friday, following on the heels of similar increases by Longueuil and Laval transit authorities and the Agence métropolitaine de transport, which runs the region’s commuter trains.
