Société de transport de Montréal is about to announce the final terms of the contract to replace its fleet of métro cars. The only two bidders on the contract, Bombardier Inc. and Alstom SA, have formed a consortium to build the large order, which could number up to 700 cars.

MONTREAL “It’s too late.” That was the response Wednesday from the Société de transport de Montréal’s Odile Paradis to Monday’s late legal challenge asking that the upcoming contract to replace Montreal’s métro cars be re-opened.
But the challenger, Glen T. Fisher, shot back: “Excuse me? Too late to save Quebecers $500 million or more? I don’t think so.”

My Comment: The Chinese are probably right about the cost savings .... they do not pay that much to their employees, while in Canada and France it is another story.
