Fragile Habs Score First Victory Under Gainey -- Globe And Mail

Koivu nets winner in overtime after tepid outing with GM behind the bench.

MONTREAL -- The story goes that when Bob Gainey, the player, stood in the Montreal Canadiens dressing room - even if only to grab a cup of water or skate laces - the place fell into a hush.

Whether that tale is apocryphal or not, one thing seems obvious about Gainey the head coach: An NHL team criticized for a lack of leadership and gumption has received an infusion of both behind the bench.
