Brian Gionta used fifth effort to score a goal Monday night as he continued to prove that size doesn’t matter. He was the key player with two goals and an assist as the Canadiens forged a 4-3 victory over the Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Canadiens failed to take advantage of the fact the Penguins started American Hockey Leaguer John Curry in goal until late in the first period when defenceman Jaroslav Spacek unleashed a shot from the point.
