Former FARC hostage gives emotional speech to National Assembly.
QUEBEC – In an emotional 20-minute speech, Ingrid Betancourt, who received the medal of honour of the Quebec National Assembly Wednesday, thanked the MNAs for their 2002 unanimous resolution calling for her release from captivity.
“You were the first,” Betancourt said, calling for continued efforts to free the remaining hostages of the Marxist Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarios de Colombia, or FARC, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia.
