City Hall Proposes More Public Input

In Ahuntsic-Cartierville, a recent hot-button issue for residents was the borough council’s decision to rent new offices at a high price.

In LaSalle, it was the borough council’s decision to institute a local tax.

In Pierrefonds-Roxboro, it has been the borough council’s approval of piecemeal development without assessing the potential impact on quality of life, traffic and air quality.

Every borough has its issue, every issue its opponents, and every opponent seems to make the same complaint about Montreal’s political system: The public is powerless to sway borough councils.
