Quebec Finance Minister Quits

Monique Jérôme-Forget is stepping down as Quebec's finance minister and leaving politics.

Jérôme-Forget, 68, announced her resignation Wednesday morning in Quebec City in a joint news conference with Premier Jean Charest.

"There's never a good time to leave politics," said Jérôme-Forget, who wants to spend more time with her family and grandchildren.

"Indeed, it is a sad moment, and it is a joyful moment for me. I'm leaving 10 years of politics. It's been a great, great period to be with the premier," she said.
