André Lavallée Linked To FLQ -- CBC

André Lavallée, vice-president of Montreal's executive committee, is making no excuses for his past, after reports linked the longtime politician to Quebec's notorious Front de libération du Québec.

Montreal newspaper La Presse is reporting that Lavallée – who is also borough mayor in Rosemont -Petite-Patrie – is a former member of the FLQ, and took part in a robbery at a church basement bingo hall in 1971 to finance the nationalist revolutionary group's activities.

My Comment: Is he sorry for what he did? It appears that he is not .... blaming it all on a youthful indiscretion. Sigh ....

It is no surprise that this story is being leaked now. Mayor Tremblay's support comes from the English and immigrant communities who have no love of the separatists and/or FLQ ideology .... this type of news puts the spotlight on Mayor Trembaly and his sense of judgment.

Speaking for myself .... I now do not have the stomach to support him. It is now obvious that Mayor Trembaly is surrounded by the same people that also surrounds the opposition candidate. My vote will not make a difference on what happens in City Hall .... I might as well stay home. I am also sure that I am not the only one who is feeling like this.
