No Immediate Plans To Raise Quebec SalesTax: Bachand

QUEBEC - Finance Minister Raymond Bachand indicated Tuesday that he has no immediate plans to raise Quebec’s 7.5-per-cent sales tax.
“Until and unless the economic recovery is solid, is stable, which is not the case today, we will not have any new measures of revenue,” Bachand said, responding to media reports that the province, strapped for cash, could increase by one, and possibly two percentage points, the QST.
