Harper Trying To Buy Votes In Quebec, Duceppe Says

Bloc boss points to Tory spending spree as evidence PM is fiscally irresponsible

Bloc Québécois leader Gilles Duceppe came out swinging yesterday, accusing Prime Minister Stephen Harper of breaking his promises and trying to buy Quebecers' votes.

Launching his campaign a day before Harper is to ask Governor-General Michaëlle Jean to dissolve Parliament and call an election, Duceppe warned Harper is prepared to do just about anything to win a majority government.

While Harper portrays his party as fiscally conservative and will campaign on a theme that he is best equipped to manage the country's finances, Duceppe portrayed him yesterday as someone ready to spend millions of dollars of taxpayers' money to get himself re-elected prime minister.
