Montreal Teacher Faces More Sex Charges In U.S. Internet Case

A teacher at a prestigious Montreal private school is facing more than 200 new child pornography charges in the United States, police said.

Richard Doucet, 36, was arrested in May in a police sting operation in Fredericksburg, Va., shortly after arriving in the city.

Doucet, who teaches English and math at Selwyn House in Montreal's Westmount neighbourhood, was picked up by an undercover officer who had been posing online as a 13-year-old boy.

Fredericksburg police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe said Doucet is now facing 115 new counts of possessing child pornography, and another 115 counts of reproducing child pornography, in connection with images alleged to have been found on one of two compact discs seized in his motel room after his arrest.

"The contents of one of those CDs are what prompted these additional charges," Bledsoe told CBC News on Friday.
