No English Requirements At STM, Chairman Says

From The Montreal Gazette:

MONTREAL ­ The chairman of the Société de transport de Montréal said bus drivers are not required to speak to passengers in English, but the overwhelming majority are bilingual.

“The language of the work is French, but we try to place drivers who speak English in the anglophone suburbs, and in tourist areas,” Michel Labrecque told The Gazette Saturday.

My Comment: From my own experience, there have only been a handful of incidents in which the bus driver could have handled himself better. Unfortunately, those are the incidents that you always remember.
