Coalition Unveils Green Plan For Montreal's Turcot Interchange

MONTREAL - The most detailed alternative Turcot plan yet was made public Monday, and proponents say it would improve Montreal’s air quality, reduce greenhouse gases, enhance public health, boost mass transit and allow a huge area to be developed.

Transport Quebec plans to spend $1.5 billion rebuilding the Turcot complex, the tangle of highways, interchanges and access ramps west of downtown. Under the plan, the new Turcot would handle 305,000 vehicles a day, an increase of 25,000 vehicles.
