Faces fraud charges in L.A.; Arrested by suspicious border agent as he was about to cross back into Canada.

MONTREAL – John Bellini's inability to recognize the break he received from Lady Luck finds him in a Los Angeles jail facing the very real possibility of a lengthy U.S. prison term.

The 44-year-old Notre Dame de Grâce resident is scheduled to appear before a judge in a U.S. District Court on Sept. 15 on charges he ran a Montreal-based multimillion-dollar fraudulent telemarketing ring that specifically targeted elderly people in both the U.S. and Canada.
