Ignatieff Draws 1,100 To Quebec Fundraiser

More than 1,100 people paid $500 each to hear Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff speak at a fundraiser in Montreal Thursday night.

The crowd was just over half as large as the one Prime Minister Stephen Harper brought out in Montreal two weeks ago, but tickets to that one cost only $150.

The latest Léger marketing poll shows Harper's Conservatives down to fourth place in Quebec, while Ignatieff's Liberals now lead even the Bloc Québécois among voters in the province.

The Liberal leader described a proud Quebec arts scene under assault by Conservative policies. He attacked the government's cuts to culture funding, calling them short-sighted.
