Play Nice Or Lose Your Funding, Montreal Warns Carifiesta Factions

MONTREAL - The two factions vying to organize Montreal’s annual Caribbean parade must work together or city hall will withhold funding and the event won’t happen, the city warns.

The Caribbean Cultural Festivities Association (CCFA) has split into two groups; each claims it should run the colourful downtown parade, scheduled for July 4 this year.

The newly formed Montreal Carnival Development Foundation has former CCFA organizer Henry Antoine at its helm. He and his group want to change the parade’s name to CarifĂȘte from Carifiesta.
