Zampino Defends Record, Slams Critics

Saying he wants to rehabilitate his reputation, Frank Zampino, Mayor Gérald Tremblay's former right-hand man, went on television Sunday and insisted he didn't intervene to ensure that his friend's company received a $355-million city contract in 2007 to install and maintain water meters.

Zampino, the former head of the city of Montreal's executive committee, has been dogged by controversy since it was revealed last month that he took two Caribbean vacations on a luxury yacht owned by Antonio Accurso, whose firm Simard-Beaudry Construction Inc. is a partner in a consortium that won a contract to install water meters in non-residential buildings.

My Comment: Politics is perception .... and the perception on City Hall is very negative at the moment.
