Mayoral Candidates Snipe, Dodge Issues In Radio Debate

MONTREAL – Radio host Benoît Dutrizac had just finished explaining to three of Montreal’s mayoral candidates how he wanted them to talk about “what you’re going to do, rather than criticize your adversaries,” when the criticism began.

“When Madame Harel says she didn’t know anything about rumours concerning corruption in the construction industry, or rumours of collusion at the municipal level, she must have been the only person ... who didn’t know about them,” Montreal Mayor Gérald Tremblay observed as he began a French-language debate with Vision Montreal leader Louise Harel and Projet Montréal leader Richard Bergeron that aired Wednesday on 98.5 FM.
