Still No TimeTable For When Peel St. Will Be Open To Vehicle Traffic

MONTREAL ­ A downtown-core block north of de Maisonneuve Blvd. will have to remain shut to vehicle traffic until engineers hired by the landlord of the Marriott Residence Inn attest in writing that the façade of 2045 Peel St. is entirely secure, the Régie du bâtiment du Québec said Wednesday.

Nobody appears prepared to hazard a guess as to when that could be.

“There are no developments on this file,” Régie spokesperson Marjolaine Veillette said Wednesday, 13 days after a slab of concrete dropped from the hotel’s 18th storey to instantly kill 33-year-old Léa Guilbeault, dining at ground level.
