N.B. Government Under Fire Over Hydro-Quebec Power Deal

New Brunswick Premier Shawn Graham has taken a big political risk by agreeing to the unprecedented deal to sell NB Power to Hydro Quebec. (THE CANADIAN PRESS/Andrew Vaughan).

FREDERICTON — The Opposition has taken New Brunswick's Liberal government to task over the proposed sale of NB Power to Hydro-Quebec.

During the first question period of the fall session of the legislature, Tory Leader David Alward said Premier Shawn Graham broke an election promise not to sell the utility and does not have a mandate to proceed with the $5-billion deal with Hydro-Quebec.

My Comment: Another broken Liberal promise from the Government of New Brunswick. This is going to cost the Liberals on the Federal level .... and will certaily doom the Liberals in New Brunswick 4 years from now.

As for us "poor" Quebecers, why are we borrowing money to buy an electric utility in another province when the focus should be on lowering Hydro's debt and lowering electric rates for Quebecers.
