Cyclists' Bixi Injuries Vex MD

The city of Montreal should set up a helmet-rental program for people using the Bixi bicycle service, the head of the trauma unit at the McGill University Health Centre said Sunday.

Dr. Tarek Razek said staff at Montreal General Hospital have treated several people with "significant" head injuries suffered while using Bixi bikes this summer.

"It's very sad to see that," he said. "If there was a helmet kiosk next to where that person rented the bike, you have to wonder: Would they have gotten one?"
