SQ On The Lookout For 'Attractive' Debit-Card Thieves

MONTREAL - The Sûreté du Québec is advising the public to keep a watchful eye out for attractive people.

The provincial police force has noticed an increase in cases where people have seen their debit cards cloned within seconds while they were distracted by an attractive person asking them for help, in some cases for directions.

Fraud investigators with the provincial police believe the fraud artists have been active for months and have developed a method where they follow a target through a large retail store, peek over their shoulder as they enter their PIN while making a purchase at a cash register and then approach the unsuspecting person outside the store.
