Bruce Hills would readily concede he's hardly the funniest man in Montreal, but one could make the case that he has been indirectly responsible for eliciting more laughter in this city over the past quarter century than just about anyone.
Hills, 46, the chief operating officer of Just for Laughs - the English festival gets going in earnest this week after last week's kickoff of its franco sibling - was one of the earliest Just for Laughs employees, getting his start as a lowly driver for the festival in the mid-'80s.
