Georges St-Pierre dominates Thiago Alves on historic UFC card; Brock Lesnar beats Frank Mir for heavyweight title

LAS VEGAS — Ultimate Fighting Championship superstar Georges St-Pierre said to anyone who would listen prior to Saturday night’s UFC 100 that Thiago Alves was the biggest challenge he’s faced in the Octagon. Well, if that was the case, then the rest of the roster is in trouble.

In front of a sell-out crowd of 10,673 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, St-Pierre (19-2) put on a masterful display in the semi-main event of the pay-per-view spectacular, dominating the powerful Brazilian challenger for all but a few scant moments throughout the five rounds. Two judges scored it 50-45, while one had it 50-44, as St-Pierre defended his welterweight crown for the third time and moved a step closer to the mythical title of best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
