Cirque Walks Economic Tightrope For Silver Anniversary Year

The Cirque du soleil will usher in its 25th year with a modest affair, reflecting both the humble beginnings of the entertainment giant and the economic reality of modern times.

CEO and founder Guy Laliberté announced the program for the Cirque's silver anniversary year on Tuesday at the company's headquarters in Montreal.

"We made a decision of celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Cirque du soleil recognizing that there is an economic situation there," said Laliberté.
