UQAM Profs Stage Another One-Day Strike

Université du Québec à Montréal professors are holding the second of four scheduled one-day strikes on Wednesday.

More than 950 UQAM professors – the lowest-paid university professors in the province, and the ones with the largest average class sizes – have been without a contract since May 2007.

They're seeking an 11-per-cent salary increase over three years, and also want the administration to hire 300 new professors to improve the ratio of professors to students, who number around 40,000.
