Five fires in two weeks, but police downplay talk of arson

MONTREAL – Boxes of old records, teddy bears and other sentimental items stand at the feet of Étienne Morisette on Marie Anne St. in the Plateau, where a five-alarm fire ravaged a three-storey building early Thursday.

Morisette, who lives in Rosemont, showed up in the morning to help his friend salvage what he could from his apartment, now mainly ashes.
