Report suggests Formula One will return to Montreal in 2010.
MONTREAL – François Dumontier, deeply involved in the organization of the Canadian Grand Prix for most of the past 15 years as operations manager, vice-president of operations and finally general manager, had no comment to make on Thursday's report in a Montreal newspaper that Mayor Gérald Tremblay is only weeks away from announcing the city has been added to the 2010 Formula One schedule.
La Presse reported that only a few details and a couple million dollars in additional funding remain to be sorted out before the deal is done. The federal, provincial and civic governments will invest more than $16.5 million a year to secure the race for Montreal, in partnership with F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone, the report says.
