Fredy Villanueva's Death Remembered In Montreal -- News Roundup

MONTREAL - A two-day event - dubbed Hoodstock - marking the one-year anniversary of the shooting death of Fredy Villanueva, is underway this weekend in Montreal.

The 18-year-old was killed last Aug. 9 during an altercation with police in a parking lot in Montreal North. The death sparked a riot the following day in which one police officer was shot and injured and the neighbourhood fire station was torched.

“We expect it to be held in peace and tranquillity and we ask that no one do anything stupid,” Villanueva's sister, Wendy, said earlier this month.
