MONTREAL - They're springing up everywhere in and around Montreal. A new generation of luxurious retirement homes, in all corners of the city.
But none stands as tall as the 25-floor Manoir Laval. Since it opened in November of 2007, it has set a new record for the tallest retirement home in Quebec.
Quebec now has one of the lowest birthrates in the western world. But from the late 1940s to the late 1960s, no society in Europe or North America had as large of a baby boom. And now all these boomers are set to start turning 65 in 2011.
