Montreal Municipal Politicians Cut Down On Signs For Election Campaign

MONTREAL — The forest of campaign posters that usually greets Montrealers when they go to the polls is getting a pruning for this fall's municipal election campaign.

It's a move that's being touted as good for the environment and it also brings Montreal into line with such cities as Vancouver.

But it's not expected to reduce in any way the number of federal parties posters that could fly up if a national election is triggered in the fall.
