The flames were licking from the engine of Joey Logano's GameStop/Mad Catz Toyota, leaking fluids fuelling the fire that raged beneath the hood and floorboard in an ugly, dangerous mess.
Logano had been drilled, under caution, by Robby Gordon's Hard Rock Hotel & Casino/The Rogue Joint Toyota, Gordon's manoeuvre leaving you breathless if his sponsorship hadn't.
As Logano caromed off a tire barrier back onto the track and wrestled his engulfed scrap metal to a stop, dropping his window net and scrambling out before he was charbroiled, crew chief Dave Rogers helpfully called to him on the radio:
``You're on fire.''
This is the type of action headed to Montreal for the third instalment of the NAPA Auto Parts 200 on Aug. 30.
