Finance minister puts onus on investors.

STE. THÉRÈSE - People alleged to have been bilked by suspected fraudster Earl Jones are furious with Quebec Finance Minister Raymond Bachand for saying he can’t do anything to help and suggesting they should have acted sooner to alert authorities.

Kevin Curran, spokesperson for the estimated 175 victims of the alleged Ponzi scheme which left them pennyless, said Bachand should apologize for what he said were “very very mean spirited,” comments made byBachand a day earlier.

“He has re-ignited the shame, guilt and fear that these people somehow have done something wrong,” Curran said in an interview this morning. “It’s just terrible.

My Comment: A poor choice of words from the Finance Minister. But then again .... Quebec has a terrible history when it comes to taking care of investors and regulating financial organizations.
