Woman Who Had Three Kids With Wealthy Quebecer Wants To Appeal Court Ruling

MONTREAL — An unmarried woman who had three children with a Quebec multimillionaire is going to appeal a high-profile court ruling that denied her alimony payments.

Lawyer Anne-France Goldwater will ask the Quebec Court of Appeal on Monday for permission to challenge the Superior Court decision last month.

Justice Carole Hallee said the couple's relationship could not be called a marriage under the wording of federal or provincial legislation.

Quebec is the only province that does not recognize common-law unions
