Housing Slump Across Canada Skips Montreal

New home prices in Canada fell for the ninth straight month in June, but Montreal was not part of the slide.
Nationally, Statistics Canada said contractors cut their prices by 0.2 per cent compared with May, while in Montreal they inched up 0.1 per cent.
Montreal was among a handful of cities that saw small increases, including Ottawa, Hamilton and St. John’s. Prices in Quebec City held steady.
However, they were outweighed by continuing weakness out west.
