Montreal World Film Festival: From Beijing Olympics Film To Pierre Lebeau Tribute

MONTREAL – For an event that was nearly administered last rites four years ago, the 33rd Montreal World Film Festival appears remarkably robust.

This season’s edition consists of 400 films from 78 countries in 9 categories, from Aug. 27 to Sept. 7. Of these, 240 are features, 130 are global or international premieres, and 64 are features by first-time directors.

“It’s a very solid lineup,” observed founder Serge Losique during yesterday’s press conference at his festival’s flagship venue, the Imperial Theatre.
