Defending The Bloc -- A Commentary

Sneaky schemes aimed at destroying the Bloc Québécois are always a good way to attract attention from the Quebec press. So when The Globe and Mail published an opinion piece by University of Toronto professor Andrew Stark titled “Knock a Chip Off the Old Bloc” last Wednesday, it didn’t take long for a few eyebrows to go up.
Mr. Stark argued for an amendment to financing rules that would deny funding to any federal party that did not win at least a certain percentage of the vote in at least two regions of the country. The purpose of such an amendment would be to cut off the Bloc's public funding and make it harder for it to win seats in the House of Commons.

My Comment: The french media in Quebec is about 90% pro Bloc and 90% pro Quebec independence. They idolize and protect the Bloc and the PQ .... and nothing in my lifetime is going to change that.
